Menaggio is blessed with a wealth of natural beauty, offering a diverse range of experiences that encompass landscape, sport, nature, culture and hospitality. We are fortunate to be situated between Milan and Como to the south, Lugano and Ticino (Switzerland) to the west, Valtellina and Valchiavenna to the north. From here, the Spluga and Maloja passes lead to the Rhine and Inn basins in the Canton of Graubünden.
Across the lake from us are Varenna and Bellagio. We are situated between the lake and the mountains, making it ideal for water sports in the summer and easy hikes in Val Sanagra and moderate-altitude trekking with spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Menaggio offers the advantage of being an ideal starting point for cultural and scenic exploration. In addition to the historical sites in Menaggio, visitors can access Bellagio, Tremezzina and Varenna by ferry. We are also next to Villa Vigoni, an important Italian-German centre for European dialogue. Several other nearby towns and cities, including Como, Milan, Lecco, Chiavenna, Lugano and St. Moritz are also easily accessible by public transport or by car. In those locations, you can enjoy a wide range of cultural and artistic attractions.
The Swiss PostBus lines Palm Express from Lugano to St. Moritz and Bernina Express (Lugano-Tirano and then by Rhaetian Railway over the Bernina Pass to St. Moritz) pass through Menaggio.
